Walk around Sovereign Harbour

Sovereign Harbour is a reclaimed area to the east of the town which has been turned into a very nice harbour community. Most of the homes there are holiday/second homes, but there is nevertheless a community and there are usually boats coming and going through the locks into the marina. It’s ‘wild’ edge is Langney Point, complete with Martello Tower (number 66). If you’re looking for a tamer face, there are the inner harbours and a restaurant complex.

We enjoy a walk around the harbour. I’m as interested in the development there (the range, styles and orientations) as I am in the geography, nature and history of the place. There are also some lush houses to spot on the banks of harbour. Always a good value walk.
