Boxing Day seafront walk

We found ourselves unexpectedly alone on Boxing Day when circumstances changed, so decided to get out for a walk while the rain held off. It was high tide, blustery and cold, but the seafront was heaving with people and dogs out enjoying the day.

The Bandstand was very busy as people enjoyed the music from a dance band.

We also had a good look at the Claremont Hotel which was destroyed in a fire about a month ago. The damage is quite dramatic and the road is still closed. There was another major collapse a couple of weeks ago I think.

Here’s how the fire had looked – I’m not sure who took the picture but it was tweeted by South East Water:

The jaunty statue of the Royal Sussex Regiment soldier coolly looked the other way as the fire raged…

Round the side and back there’s not a lot of the building left.

Fire Exits still intact!
