It’s a bit like having the double-fronted house, like houses used to always look in childhood drawings. A walled garden seems like magical place.
It’s not that we actually own the whole of this garden: our lease includes the area immediately by the house. Up some steps and you’re in the communal garden which we share with the other four flat owners. It’s actually owned by the freeholder, but we pay to maintain it. There’s a large lawn, and even a swing (which we’ve tested out). But oh, when you reach the end of the garden and look back, your hearts misses a beat.
